ECAM Neutron Cancer Therpy

The mission of the ECAM NEUTRON CANCER THERAPY Center is to develop personalized cancer treatments (n=1) using the BORON NEUTRON CAPTURE THERAPY (BNCT),  a transformative cancer therapy which uses a direct neutron beam to destroy the specific cancer cells of the patient and leave healthy tissue largely undamaged.

Revolutionary Cancer Therapy

BNCT is a targeted, non-invasive combination cancer treatment

  1. A patient is first infused with a non-toxic boron-10 compound, which selectively accumulates in tumor tissue
  2. After the infusion, the tumor is irradiated with low energy neutrons
  3. The reaction, inside the cells, emits charged particles
  4. The charged particles destroy the cancer cell while limiting damage to surrounding healthy tissue without boron-10
